OptiPix Face Blur uses AI face detection to automatically find and blur all faces in your photos. This is essential for privacy compliance when sharing photos publicly, for protecting children's identities, or for anonymizing images in research and journalism. The AI model detects faces with high accuracy across various angles, lighting conditions, and face sizes. Once detected, faces are blurred with an adjustable intensity — from light blurring that obscures identity while keeping context, to heavy pixelation for complete anonymization. You can also manually adjust blur regions if the AI misses a face or blurs something you want to keep. All processing happens in your browser using WebAssembly-based neural networks. Your photos are never uploaded to any server. The model downloads once (approximately 5 MB) and works offline afterward. The tool outputs high-quality PNG or JPEG files with the selected faces blurred.

How It Works

The tool uses a lightweight face detection neural network that runs in your browser via WebAssembly. It identifies face bounding boxes in the image, then applies a Gaussian blur or pixelation effect to each detected region while leaving the rest of the image untouched.
