About Photo Restoration
OptiPix Photo Restoration is a full pipeline for breathing life back into old, damaged, or faded photos — and it runs entirely in your browser. The restoration workflow walks you through repair (auto-detect scratches and dust, then inpaint), enhance (auto-levels, CLAHE local contrast, de-yellowing of warm casts), and final sharpening. The de-yellow tool detects the dominant warm tint in highlights and shifts white balance to neutral, undoing decades of fade. The scratch detector uses morphological operations to find thin damaged lines, and inpainting fills them in from surrounding pixels. A manual brush lets you paint over additional damage for targeted repair. The dust spot remover finds isolated bright/dark pixels and replaces them with their neighborhood median. Before/after comparison slider lets you see your work. Batch mode and HEIC input are supported. Everything is computed locally with HTML Canvas pixel operations — perfect for restoring family photos, scanned negatives, and old prints without uploading anything to a third-party service.
How It Works
The restoration pipeline runs as Canvas pixel operations: morphological scratch detection, neighborhood-based inpainting, isolated-pixel spot removal, histogram stretch (auto-levels), CLAHE local contrast, dominant-color white balance correction (de-yellow), and an optional sharpening pass to finish.

- •Restore a scanned family photo from the 1950s
