About AVIF to JPG Converter
Last updated: October 2026
AVIF is the most efficient image format in common use and the newest, which is exactly the problem: browsers read it, and a great deal of other software does not. Save an image from a modern site and you can end up with a file your photo editor, your print workflow or an upload form simply refuses. Converting to JPEG trades AVIF's compression advantage for a file that has worked everywhere for thirty years. The decode and the re-encode both run in your browser with MozJPEG doing the encoding, so nothing is uploaded and there is no batch limit. One thing to know: AVIF can carry transparency and JPEG cannot, so any transparent area is flattened onto a background colour you choose. If that matters, convert to PNG or WebP instead.
How It Works
The AVIF is decoded in your browser, flattened onto your chosen background if it carries transparency, and re-encoded as JPEG with MozJPEG compiled to WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded.
Use Cases
- •Opening a web-saved AVIF in an editor that will not read it
- •Meeting a JPEG-only upload requirement
- •Preparing AVIF images for a print workflow
- •Batch-converting downloaded AVIF assets
