About JSON to CSV Converter
Last updated: October 2026
JSON comes out of APIs and exports; spreadsheets take CSV. Converting between them is routine and the interesting part is what happens to structure, because JSON nests and CSV does not. An array of flat objects maps cleanly - one row each, keys as the header. Nested objects have to be flattened into dotted column names, and arrays inside a record have to be joined into a single cell, because a table has nowhere else to put them. That is a real loss of shape, and it is worth looking at the output rather than assuming a clean round trip. Everything runs in your browser: the JSON is parsed and the CSV built on your own device, which matters because API exports routinely contain customer records, and pasting those into an online converter is a data disclosure whatever the site promises.
How It Works
The JSON is parsed in your browser, object keys are collected into a header row with nested paths flattened to dotted names, and each record becomes a row with arrays joined into single cells. Nothing is sent to a server.
Use Cases
- •Getting an API export into a spreadsheet for analysis
- •Handing structured data to someone who works in Excel
- •Converting a JSON log or dump into a reviewable table
- •Preparing data for an import that expects CSV
