About TIFF to JPG Converter
Last updated: October 2026
TIFF is what scanners, fax archives and some cameras still produce, and it is built for archival fidelity rather than for sending anywhere: files are often tens of megabytes, and browsers will not display them at all. Converting to JPEG makes them viewable and emailable, usually at a fraction of the size. Because TIFF is typically uncompressed or losslessly compressed, the first conversion to JPEG is where the quality decision gets made - the slider is worth setting deliberately rather than leaving at default if the scan has to stay legible. The decode and encode run in your browser with MozJPEG, so the scans are not uploaded, which matters given that most TIFFs people convert are scanned documents and records.
How It Works
The TIFF is decoded in your browser and re-encoded as JPEG with MozJPEG compiled to WebAssembly, at the quality you set. Nothing leaves your device.
Use Cases
- •Making a scanned document viewable in a browser
- •Emailing a scan that is too large as TIFF
- •Converting an archive of fax or scanner output for sharing
- •Preparing camera TIFFs for the web
