About PDF to PNG Converter
Last updated: October 2026
When the PDF is text, a table, a diagram or line art, PNG is the right export and JPG is the wrong one. JPEG's compression is built for continuous tone and leaves visible ringing around hard edges, which is exactly what text and rules are made of - a converted page looks slightly dirty, and at small sizes becomes hard to read. PNG is lossless, so the rendered page comes out exactly as pdf.js drew it. Each page becomes its own PNG at the resolution you choose, from 72 DPI for screen use up to 300 for print or close inspection. Expect the files to be larger than the equivalent JPGs; that is what lossless costs and it is the right price for a page of text. Rendering happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded - which is the point when the document is a contract, a payslip or anything else you would not hand to a stranger's server.
How It Works
pdf.js renders each page to a canvas at your chosen DPI and the canvas is written out as PNG, losslessly. Both steps run in your browser on your own device, and every page comes back as its own file.
Use Cases
- •Exporting a page of text or a table as a crisp image for a slide or document
- •Getting a diagram or chart out of a PDF without JPEG artefacts
- •Producing lossless page images for an editing or annotation workflow
- •Converting a form page to an image to mark up
- •Taking a clean screenshot-quality export of a specific page
